Interior and property styling is a growth industry and a career that’s creative, fulfilling and where no two days are ever the same. In this course you’ll be empowered with the knowledge, processes and confidence to launch your career as an Interior Stylist. You’ll become a visual storyteller, sourcing, selecting and curating furniture, accessories and props to create a narrative to transform a space.

This course is developed by practising Stylists who share their insights and tips developed over years of practical experience. If you need support our Educators are on hand to answer your questions and give detailed feedback on your activities.

What does the course cover?

We’ll cover both the creative and business aspects of freelance styling including the core design principles you’ll need to interpret a brief, manage and creatively direct the styling of an interior or a photo shoot. You’ll identify and establish your visual style and professional identity to promote yourself as an Interior Stylist on various platforms including social media.

  • Understand the role, work processes and services offered by Interior and Property Stylists

  • Understand the roles of colour, pattern, texture and lighting in styling a space
  • Prepare a vision board to illustrate a proposal and style direction

How does it work?

This course is delivered through our online eCampus. The eCampus is easy to navigate and accessible from anywhere there is an internet connection. It is filled with inspirational images, practical resources, video presentations and lots of real life examples.

You will work through a range of activities introducing you to the key skills required to work as an Interior and Property Stylist. Each activity carefully guides you step-by-step through the creative process, gradually building your knowledge and confidence.

Along the way, our Educators – interior styling professionals working in the industry – will be on hand to provide guidance and answer questions. As you complete your activities and assessments, you simply photograph and upload your work for marking and feedback.

What skills do I need?

You will need basic computer knowledge and the ability to navigate the internet. In terms of equipment you will need a computer or laptop with Microsoft Office, access to the internet (preferably broadband), access to an A4 printer and scanner (Min 1000+ DPI) and a digital camera or phone camera.

You are required to upload your assessments as a PDF so you will require software on your phone such as Turbo Scan or Genius Scan.

To study with Interior Design Online you will need a strong command of the English language (verbal, written and comprehension) and, if required, be able to score at least 6 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test here or an equivalent.

If required, our team will be in contact with you by telephone to assess your English language proficiency, prior to an enrolment confirmation being sent. If your application is not successful due to your language ability your payment will be refunded in full.

What is the cost?

  • Pay AUD $1,295 in full (GST free) or pay a deposit of $495 followed by 2 monthly instalments of $400 via Ezidebit.
  • A credit card transaction fee will be applied at checkout.
  • Please allow AUD $50 incidental printing costs.
